San Diego City Council Staffer ‘Wanted to Shoot’ Police Brutality Protesters in City Hall

(TheAntiMedia) In a further sign of the devolution of respect that the government maintains for the population which employs them, a San Diego city council staffer said demonstrators that shut down the council meeting were “fucking idiots” and said “I wanted to shoot them”. The protest was organized by former Marine Mark Jones.

Shirley Owen, a staffer for San Diego city councilwoman Lorie Zapf, made the remarks following an inauguration ceremony Wednesday morning.

What Owen said publicly in the council chambers basically mirrors the thought process the police hold toward the public. They think we are just idiots, so they feel like they can shoot people down in the streets and not be held accountable for their actions.

Several children were also participating in the protest.

Contacted by The Anti-Media, a participant in the protest named Alberto Osornio of San Diego had this to say:

Anti-Media: How do you feel about Shirley Owen calling protesters idiots and saying she wanted to shoot you?

AO: “We were protesting the city council because we know the cops are corrupt and racist, however this staffer shows us that the problem doesn’t end with the police. The city government seems to be just as infested with racism and animosity toward minorities, and at the very least, indifferent to our cause and struggle”

I then asked Alberto what he thinks should happen to the staffer.

“Shirley Owen should be fired, and her boss, councilwoman Lorie Zapf, needs to make a public apology to San Diego protesters who were simply standing up against injustice and police violence.”

According to protesters, they shut down the city council inauguration because the council refused to let them speak. As they demonstrated inside the building, they were ignored completely by the city council who refused to even acknowledge them.

UPDATE: Reporting San Diego has confirmed that Shirley Owen has been suspended for two weeks. However, activists still want her to be fired for her threat.
